Noticings of Abundance

If you are like me, the thoughts of financial anxiety run through your mind daily. And you probably are like me because you are a HUMAN living in a world that is driven by numbers, and it feels like your worth is determined by how much you make, how big your house is, and how nice a car you have. If I were to have it my way, your financial value would be directly correlated to how genuine and kind a person you are. But alas, here we are.

The interesting part is that no matter how much money or assets you have, you will still have financial anxiety. I hear people from every income level talking about “how much groceries cost”, “gas is exorbitant”, and “I can’t afford x,y,z”. I fall into this trap too.. I find myself looking at a grocery receipt, then spiraling out of control to having thoughts of “how am I going to ever be able to afford a house and how am I going to make it all work??” Yes, it is extreme, and the thoughts happen fast. So, to stop these thoughts, I decided to challenge myself to focus on abundance instead of lack.

And you may be thinking, “duh, of course that is the solution”, but have you tried it?? Because it WORKS! The first week I tested out this challenge, I found a quarter, received Southwest Airlines credit, didn’t have to pay a parking ticket and my friend gave me a pair of new Vans shoes.

The more I focused on abundance, the more it kept FLOWING into my life… one thing after the other. The next week, I ordered a pizza and two got delivered to me. Pizza miracle! The following year, on the day I got laid off, I received a $1,000 check from my previous job, AND I was hired by a new and more aligned therapy practice the next week! I’m serious; this challenge works. My partner and I started a shared note where we document noticings of abundance, no matter how big or small.. from finding pennies to noticing the lush hillsides after an abundance of rain. Write it ALL down and notice what it FEELS like to be focusing on supply rather than lack. As I write about this challenge, I feel this freedom and joy in my heart as I trust that I will always have exactly what I need. I believe this for you as well.

So here is the challenge:

  • If you like tracking things digitally:

    • Go to your notes app

    • Start a new note

    • Label it ABUNDANCE

    • Start noticing and tracking abundance.

  • If you prefer pen to paper, I created a free downloadable worksheet to guide you through this process. Again, it doesn’t matter how big or small. Just notice and see how your mindset begins to shift.
